The lactation consultant, under the supervision of the OB Nurse Manager, has responsibility for the following:  provides current knowledge and expertise to both patients and staff on breastfeeding; assists mothers with breastfeeding; provides education for nursing staff consistent with support of breastfeeding mothers; teaches breastfeeding at prenatal classes; makes rounds on breastfeeding mothers; follows-up with breastfeeding mothers post discharge via telephone at 2-4 days and 2-3 weeks; provides home and/or out-patient visits as needed to breastfeeding mothers; provides written progress reports/notes to physicians as appropriate.

High school graduate and Certification in Lactation Consultation from an accredited credentialing agency.

The Radiology Technologist administers ionizing radiation to patients producing diagnostic images, which assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients.  The technologist prepares the room and equipment, utilizes accepted techniques to capture the images, and evaluates the images for diagnostic qualities.  The Technologist needs to assist with fluoroscopy, invasive procedures and surgery utilizing the guidance of X-ray.  The Technologist must follow IEMA regulations and practice strict radiation protection of patient, co-workers, and self.  The Radiology Technologist also takes call, orders supplies, works the office, develops and copies films and transports patients.  The Radiology Technologist assists in scheduling the patients and explains the procedure being performed.

Competent in knowledge of anesthetic agents.  Competent in conscious sedation.

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required.  Current State of Illinois registered nurse license, current CPR certification, ACLS and PALS certifications required.

The Registered Nurse has the responsibility for the following as a Circulating RN:  Completes all required patient assessments timely and accurately; completes all documentation accurately and timely; directs and assists non-licensed personnel; provides appropriate comfort measures and pain management; demonstrates knowledge of all wellness and disease management issues; administers medications accurately and timely; demonstrates competency in patient care procedures and use of pertinent equipment and supplies; executes accurate order entry, transcription of orders and signs off orders; provides patient education; initiates and up dates patient plan of care; and promotes and assures patient safety.

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required.  Current State of Illinois registered nurse license, current CPR certification. 1 year of hospital experience required or previous circulating experience.

A surgical scrub tech will have knowledge of all surgical procedures and be able to properly set up a room with proper instrumentation using sterile technique.  The surgical scrub tech will be able to anticipate the surgeons need for instruments and hand appropriate instruments to the surgeon during a procedure.  Must be knowledgeable in sterilization of instruments and maintaining sterilization throughout a surgical procedure.

High school graduate or GED equivalent.  Graduation from an accredited school for Surgical Technologists.  Certification required in one year or completed courses in Microbiology and Anatomy & Physiology.

Receives, stores, and issues materials, supplies, and equipment; takes inventory and assists with special projects.
