The Board of Directors of St. Margaret’s Health, at its meeting last night, recommended to the SMP Health System and the Sisters of Mary of the Presentation, the discontinuation of plans to build a replacement hospital facility at the intersection of Dalzell Road and US Highway 6. Their recommendation is based upon the lack of viable financing for the project, the unprecedented economic climate, and the uncertainty caused by current health care reform initiatives. “It is unfortunate that, after exhaustive efforts over the last eighteen months, we were unable to obtain affordable financing,” explained Tim Muntz, President & CEO. “Instead, we will redirect our efforts toward our existing campus and other facilities, focusing on improved access to the health care services we provide to our communities. We greatly appreciate the assistance and cooperation received from the City of Spring Valley, State Representative Frank Mautino, State Senator Gary Dahl, Congressman Aaron Shock and others as we attempted to develop the project.” |
